As many would expect, our kids arrive with hardly any possessions. We quickly supply them with new clothes and a few toys that they get to keep. When a child leaves, they are able to take everything with them that was given.
Jaqueline was packing to go home to her family. She worked with her housemom to sort through her clothes, only packing what still fit. They came upon a nice, new outfit that she hadn’t yet worn. Jaqueline said, “Leave it here and give it to the next girl that comes. I don’t need it.” Surprised, her housemom said, “Are you sure?” Jaqueline nodded, “I think we should take everything that doesn’t fit to the office for other girls to use when they come.” How beautiful is it to see a young girl, who has been through so much, think of someone other than herself?
