What It's Like in Their Minds

We regularly see children who have been caring for children. Damian, 12 years old, had been caring for his 5 younger siblings most of his life.

Upon entering foster care, they were split up between Calvary Home and an amazing foster family. It was decided that Roger, who is in the individual foster home, will come to Calvary Home so that the foster family can focus on the two baby girls.

Damian is happy to have his brother come to Calvary, but he would rather him stay. In Damian’s mind, Roger needs to be there to take care of the girls.

This is how a lot of our kids thought and lived before coming to Calvary Home. Damian will transition, letting the houseparents’ handle the adult things and begin focusing on being a 6th-grade kid.
