A Beautiful Next Step: Celebrating Faith, Family, and Community

Sunday was a day of celebration at Calvary Home.

We gathered together to witness something incredibly special: one of our children took his next step of faith and was baptized. Surrounded by his family, friends, and the Calvary Home community, he publicly declared his faith and his desire to follow Jesus.

There is something especially beautiful about watching a child who has already experienced the power of family, belonging, and love take this step in his spiritual journey.

This young man has been adopted for several years now and his family continues to foster children from hard places from the community. Adoption is a powerful picture of what it means to be chosen, loved, and welcomed into a family. And baptism is a beautiful reminder of the even greater truth that, through Christ, we are welcomed into the family of God.

But what made the day even more meaningful was looking around and seeing the people who showed up. The Calvary Home community came together to support him, celebrate him, and remind him that he is not walking through life alone. Foster families, staff, friends, tutors, his guitar teacher and those who have walked alongside his family gathered to cheer him on during this important milestone. That is what community is all about.

When asked about who influenced his walk with the Lord. He quickly responded with “my mom and dad, and of course Mr. Corey (our Facilities Manager, pictured right) and Tatum (our respite staff).”

At Calvary Home, we believe that children and families need more than a place to live. They need people who will show up. People who will celebrate the victories, stand beside them during the difficult moments, and remind them that they are loved and supported.

Today, we celebrated a baptism, but we also celebrated a young life surrounded by family and community. We are so proud of him and excited to watch what God continues to do in his life. What a privilege it is to walk alongside our children and families, not only through the hard chapters of life, but through the joyful and sacred moments too.

Today, Heaven rejoiced, and so did we. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!”  2 Corinthians 5:17

We are grateful for another beautiful reminder that at Calvary Home, we truly are better together and what a joy it is to celebrate the next step in this young man’s journey of faith.
