A Season for Healing, Growth, and Joy
As summer approaches at Calvary Home for Children, the rhythm of campus begins to change. School schedules pause, the days stretch a little longer, and our focus shifts toward something incredibly important for the children in our care; making memories, building confidence, and experiencing the joy of childhood.
For many of the children who come to Calvary, life has not always included carefree summers. Trauma, instability, and frequent transitions have often taken the place of the simple experiences many of us remember from our own childhoods. Because of supporters like you, we are able to create a summer that is filled with fun, growth, and healing.
This year’s summer calendar is full of opportunities for our children to learn, explore, and simply enjoy being kids. Some of the highlights include:
In His Wakes Lake Day – A favorite tradition where children spend the day on the water, tubing, wake boarding, and experiencing the encouragement and mentorship of caring volunteers.
Summer Tutoring – While school may be out, learning continues. Our tutoring program helps students maintain academic progress and build confidence in the classroom while also working to fill the gaps created from trauma.
Life Skills Classes – Practical lessons that prepare our children and teach independence. Lessons include cooking, budgeting, organization, and gardening.
Beach Trips – Many of our children have never seen the vastness of the ocean before. These trips provide adventure, wonder, and unforgettable moments.
The First Ever Calvary Summer Olympics – This year we are excited to launch a brand-new campus tradition! Our children will compete in fun, team-based events that celebrate teamwork, perseverance, and good old-fashioned summer fun.
While the calendar is full, the purpose behind it is simple: connection and belonging.
Summer is intentionally a season when we do not host fundraising events. Instead, our staff and foster families devote their time and energy to investing deeply in the children, building relationships, celebrating milestones, and creating the kinds of memories that help restore what trauma has taken away.
Because of your support and generosity, children who have experienced hardship are discovering something new at Calvary Home; a place where summer feels safe, joyful, and full of possibility.
Thank you for helping us give them not just a place to live but a childhood to remember.
