Every Gift Matters

As we move into the summer months, I find myself reflecting on God's faithful provision for Calvary Home for Children. Summer is a season filled with activities for our children and families such as vacations, camps, life skills classes, tutoring, celebrations, and opportunities to create memories which many of our children have never had before.

It is also historically the time of year when charitable giving slows down.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members
do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all
the others.
— Romans 12:4-5

This reality isn't unique to Calvary Home. Many nonprofit ministries experience a decline in donations during the summer months as families travel, routines change, and attention shifts in different directions. Yet the needs of the children we serve do not slow down. In fact, many of the expenses associated with caring for children increase during the summer.

When I think about this, I am reminded of a powerful biblical truth: God rarely accomplishes His work through a single person carrying the entire burden. Instead, He calls His people to come together, each contributing what they can, to accomplish something far greater than any one individual could do alone.

The Apostle Paul describes the Church as a body, where every part plays a role.

The same principle is true in ministry. While some supporters are able to make large gifts, many others faithfully give smaller amounts. Both are essential. The impact is not found in the size of a single gift but in the collective faithfulness of God's people.

When a child receives tutoring, it is because many people gave.

When a foster family receives support and encouragement, it is because many people gave.

When siblings can stay together, when a birthday is celebrated, when counseling is provided, when a child learns they are loved and valued, it is because many people gave.

I am often reminded of the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. A young boy offered five loaves and two fish. By themselves, they seemed insignificant compared to the need. Yet when placed in Jesus' hands, they became more than enough.

God has always been in the business of multiplying faithful offerings. His math often doesn’t make sense but His math is always right in His timing.

As we enter this summer season, I want to thank you. Whether your gift is large or small, whether you give monthly or occasionally, you are helping create a place where children can heal, belong, and encounter the love of Christ. Where children can see and know that they too are more than enough in the hands of Jesus.
